Kwamie Lassiter’s football career started while he was attending Menchville High School in Newport News, Virginia and he graduated in 1989. He later enrolled at Butler County Community College, where he spent two years playing College football. He later transferred to the University of Kansas in 1991. He didn’t get a playing time in 1991, so he waited until 1992. He played for the University of Kansas football team from 1992 until 1994. From 1995 until 2002, he played for Arizona Cardinals and in 2003 and 2004, he played for San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams. After the 2001 season, he was selected as an alternate for the 2002 Pro Bowl after reaching career highs with 112 tackles and 9 interceptions.

After retiring from active sports, Lassiter was a pregame and post game host for the Arizona Cardinals Radio Network. From 2009 until he passed away, he hosted Kwamie Lassiter’s Sport Talk on the VoiceAmerican Internet Radio network. In 2010, he became the president of the NFL Alumni chapter of Arizona and he held this position until his death in 2019. From 2009 until 2010, he was a defensive backs coach at Mesa Community College. In 2012, he became defensive back coach for the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League (UFL).
