Rosa Parks was an American activist. She was born Rosa Louise McCauley on February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama, United States and she was also raised there. She was born to her parents named James McCauley (Father) and Leona McCauley (Mother). She grew up with a brother named Sylvester McCauley.

Rosa Parks took up many domestic jobs to support herself financially and with the help of her husband, she was able to complete High School in 1933. In December of 1943, she became very active in the civil rights movements and she also joined the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP. In 1944, she began to investigate the gang-rape of Recy Taylor. In the 1940s, her and her husband were members of the Voter’s League.
Parks was never a member of the Communist party, but she regularly attended meetings with her husband. After 1944, she worked for a while at Maxwell Air Force Base. She later worked as a housekeeper and seamstress for Clifford and Virginia Durr, a white couple. From 1965 until 1988, she served as secretary and receptionist to John Conyers, an African-American US Representative and she was also active in the Black Power movement and the support of political prisoners in the United States.
After retirement from activism, she wrote her autobiography and continued in the struggle for justice. In 1979, she was honored with NAACP Spingarn Medal, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Gold Medal and a posthumous statue in the United States Capitol’s National Statutory Hall.
