Toni Collette was born Toni Collette on the 1st of November, 1972 in Glebe, New South Wales, Australia and she was born to a mother named Judy who worked as a customer-service representative and a father named Bob Collett who worked as a truck driver, she was raised in Glebe and later changed her surname from Collett to Collette as she became famous.

Collette’s grandfather was an American Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy which was stationed in Australia during the World War II and she discovered that she could act and sing at the early age of eight, at the age of eleven she began to fake appendicitis but after several tests and checks by doctors, it was discovered that nothing was wrong with her but she later confessed to her mother that she did all the pretense in a bid to convince them that she could act.

Toni Collette later enrolled at the Blacktown Girls High School and she graduated at the age of 16 before she then began to attend the Australian Theatre for Young People and National Institute of Dramatic Art and it was at the School that she perfected her acting skills and subsequently got casted in several Theatre roles and productions and her first acting role on stage was in the musical titled Godspell in Sidney.
