Tim Blake Nelson was born Timothy Blake Nelson on the 11th of May, 1964 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States and he was born to a Jewish family, he was born to a mother named Ruth Kaiser Nelson, who was a prominent social activist and Philanthropist in Tulsa and to a father named Don Nelson, a geologist/wildcatter and he is also related to businessman George Kaiser, who is his maternal uncle.

Nelson has a German ancestry, as his maternal grandparents were from Germany but they escaped the Nazis before the World War II began, they relocated to Britain in 1938, where Nelson’s mother was birthed and they later immigrated to the United States in 1941 and his father is a Russian Jewish emigrant.
