Lee Marvin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve on August 12, 1942 and he served with the 4th Marine Division in the pacific Theatre during the World War II. On June 18, 1944, he was wounded during an assault on Mount Tapochau in the Battle of Saipan. After the war, Marvin began to pursue a career as an actor, he appeared on stage in a production of Uniform of Flesh in 1949. He later starred on television shows like Escape, The Big Story and Treasury Men in Action and many more.

Marvin made his Hollywood debut in 1951 in the film titled You’re in the Navy Now and in 1951, he also starred in Teresa. He later guest starred on episodes of Fireside Theatre, Suspense and Rebound. In 1952, he starred in Diplomatic Courier, he also guest starred on Biff Baker, U.S.A. and Eight Iron Men in 1952. In 1953, he starred in Seminole. In 1954, he starred in films like The Caine Mutiny and Gorilla at Large. In 1955, he starred in Not as a Stranger, A life in the balance and Jane Wyman Presents The Fireside Theatre.

He later starred in the 1980 movie The Big Red One, in 1981, he appeared in Death Hunt and he also appeared in Gorky Park (1983) and Dog Day (1984). Marvin’s last appearance was in The Delta Force in 1986.
