In March 2012, he attended MLB’s Opening Series at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. On August 29, 2017, he claimed that he got the 10,000th ball in his Baseball collection career at Camden Yards.
Apart from being a Baseball collector, Hample is also a writer. He has written books like How to Snag Major League Baseballs, which he published in 1999. In 2007, he published Watching Baseball Smarter and in 2011, he published The Baseball. From 2005 until 2007, he made contributions to Major League Baseball: An Interactive Guide to the World of Sports and in 2011, he wrote an introduction for Baseball ScoreKeeper. Hample is also a philanthropist and he has raised over $200,000 for pitch in for Baseball, a non-profit charity organization.
