He was born to his parents named Pauline Davis Hanson (Mother) and Allen Hanson (Father). He grew up with two brothers named Nels Hanson and a fraternal twin named Alfred Hanson.

He was also a critic of the Obama administration and on many occasions, he has stated that Obama participated in the appeasement of Iran and Russia. Hanson is a professor emeritus at California State University and he began teaching at the University in 1984.
