Sarah Vowell was born Sarah Jane Vowell on the 27th of December, 1969 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, United States and she was born to her parents named Jonathan and Maze Vowell and she was raised in Bozeman, Montana alongside her fraternal twin sister Amy Vowell.
Sarah Vowell attended Montana State University, where she graduated from with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Languages and Literatures in 1993 and she later graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1996.
